Clavia heeft op een persconferentie op de MusikMesse de Nord Stage aangekondigd. Op de MusikMesse presenteerd Creamware de "Authentic Sound Box" of ASB. Dit zijn de welbekende Minimax en Profit-5 plugins zoals we die kennen van de Scope DSP kaarten, maar deze keer geintegreerd in een hardware controller en draaiend op nieuwe, snellere DSP's. Eigenlijk hetzelfde idee als elke VA hardware synth (Virus, Nord).

Na de impOSCar en the-oddity komt GMEDIA MUSIC op NAMM met de minimonsta, deze minimoogkloon werd gemaakt in samenwerking met Ohmforce en M-AUDIO
Rick Wakeman kindly agreed to help us with the Minimonsta launch at NAMM. Performing on the main stage of the M-Audio booth, this was a great success with Dave Spiers and Rick injecting some much needed humor into, what can be, a very sterile show. Rick provided some fantastic anecdotes about his early years on the road with 'Yes' and in particular the difficulties associated with keeping the gear of the day alive and in tune, obviously something not associated with software instruments. Analog Solutions is bezig met de zoveelste 303 kloon. Niet dat ik erop zat te wachten, maar AS heeft in het verleden leuke dingen gemaakt dus misschien wordt dit een goeie. Het idee is dat ze zo dicht mogelijk bij het origineel blijven, maar toch wat extraatjes toevoegen, zoals de meeste DevilFish modificaties. Volgens de site zal er in eerste instantie geen sequencer in zitten, maar zou die later softwarematig toegevoegd kunnen worden. De software wordt 'open platform' zodat enthousiastelingen er zelf mee aan de slag kunnen.

Quantum Leap heeft op NAMM 3 nieuwe virtual instruments (zoals zij het zelf noemen) voorgesteld.
De ene is symphonic choirs (de naam zegt genoeg), de andere is RA met etnische insrtumenten en de laatste is colossus, een sample-library van 32 Gigabyte (!) waar eigenlijk een beetje van alles inzit:

De kleine broer van de FA-101 (zoals Edirol het zelf naar buiten brengt) is uit: de FA-66
Het eerste wat opvalt is de rode kleur die het doosje, net als zijn grote broer, heeft meegekregen. De specs zijn ook niet misselijk:

Zowel MAC als PC platform is ondersteund, uitgebrede specs zijn hier te lezen.
Het enige minpuntje wat ik kan bedenken is het ontbreken van ADAT optisch in en uit. IMHO heb je daar meer aan op zo'n doosje dan alleen SP/DIF formaat. De gebalanceerde in en uitgangen maken de FA-66 uitstekend geschikt voor het professionele werk in de studio of onderweg.

E-MU Systems komt met de nieuwe 1616M and 1616 CardBus Digital Audio Systems voor de laptop. Dit zijn PCMCIA kaartjes met de prettige eigenschap dat je, net als met de geluidskaarten van echte PC's, hoogwaardige geluidjes kunt maken.
Als je het doosje erbij op aansluit heb je ook nog eens 16 inputs en 16 outputs, echte neutrik connectors met 48 Volt spookkracht en een analoog circtuit om clippen tegen te gaan.
