Keith McMillen Instruments heeft een nieuwe controller ontwikkeld: de QuNexus. Deze zal naar verwachting in April volgend jaar verscheept worden als er genoeg fondsen zijn geworven. Fondsen komen net als bij de QuNeo via donaties van geïnteresseerde toekomstige gebruikers (vanaf $ 150,- krijgt men t.z.t. een exemplaar toegestuurd).
Het leuke aan deze controller is dat hij een stuk veelzijdiger is dan bijvoorbeeld een Korg NanoKEY. Zo heeft hij polyfone aftertouch en CV-in- en -uitgangen. Hij is daardoor in te zetten als een meervoudige MIDI-to-CV omzetter. Ook ondersteunt hij alle veelgebruikte platforms.

Het is een DIY analoog digitaal hybride synth met een geheel analoog audio pad en een lofi 8 bit drumcomputer.
Ik heb de mazzel dat ik al een proefmodel heb mogen bouwen en dit ding is pure acid zonder te proberen een tb-303 na te bootsen.
Hij komt 4 november beschikbaar. Er zijn (volgens betrouwbare bron) 100 kits en ik denk dat ze snel op zijn.
Op 17 oktober heeft Mode Machines de bekende x0xb0x in 19inch rackformaat aangekondigd: de bekende TB-303 kloon, maar zonder de ingebouwde sequencer. Er staat weinig informatie op de website van de fabrikant, maar één van de grote Duitse leveranciers meldt:

Veelbelovend, met name de P105: De 128 noot polyfone engine van de duurdere series in een goedkopere variant (ca 650 euro).

Jon Lord, de toetsenist van de legendarische hardrockband Deep Purple, is overleden. Hij was 71 jaar oud. Hij was degene die de toetsen speelde in 'Child in Time' uit 1970, met het karakteristieke loopje aan het begin.
Hij schreef mee aan succesnummers als 'Smoke on the Water' en componeerde de orgelpartij in 'Child in Time'. Daarnaast componeerde hij ook klassieke muziek en jazz. Zo maakte hij in 1969 'Concerto for Group & Orchestra' dat voor het eerst werd uitgevoerd in de Royal Albert Hall in Londen door the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra en Deep Purple.
Lord werkte samen met tal van musici en speelde in diverse bands als Whitesnake, Paice en Flower Pot Men. In 2002 verliet hij...

Er is sindskort een nieuwe Nederlandse fabrikant die de bassdrum van de tr-909 heeft nagebouwd en de euro rack module is inmiddels(pre-order)te bestellen.
Ook is er de mogelijkheid om te kiezen voor de pcb en/of kits om zelf een module in elkaar te bouwen.
Wat begin 2011 is begonnen als een karton emulatie van de 909 bassdrum door een synthforumlid is uitgegroeid naar een volwaardige nieuwe fabrikant in de modulaire synth wereld.

Propellerhead had al enige tijd geleden aangekondigd een eigen plugin formaat met plugin shop aan te gaan bieden onder de naam Rack Extentions (RE). Vanaf Reason 6.5 is dit beschikbaar en deze upgrade is sinds kort te downloaden!
Er zijn al verschillende aanbieders van van Rack Extentions te vinden in de Propellerhead Shop waaronder (om maar wat te noemen) de Korg Polysix of de Ozone maximizer en ook een gratis RE van Propellerhead zelf; de Pulsar. Elke RE kan een maand lang kostenloos uitgeprobeerd worden!
Een RE plugin verschilt naast de shop er vooral in dat het naadloos aansluit bij het Reason platform, denk vooral aan Undo's uitvoeren of presets op algemene manier laden.
