Je zou het bijna vergeten tussen al het NAMM hardware geweld, maar ook op het gebied van software gebeuren er interessante dingen. Zo werd gisteravond bijna tussen neus en lippen door even een nieuwe versie van misschien wel de beste softsynth ooit aangekondigd: Omnisphere 2. Roland Aira MX1

De nieuwe telg van de Roland Aira lijn is een 'Performance Mixer', de MX-1. Net als de overige Aira producten vol met LEDs, schuifjes, knopjes en geen menu's. Voor serieus gebruik lijkt hij me nogal beperkt en het is nogal 'Aira-centrisch', maar als live mixertje of My First Mixer in een kleine homestudio kan ik me voorstellen dat het een toegevoegde waarde heeft boven de standaard DJ of kleine analoge mixertjes. Interessantste aan het hele ding is denk ik het feit dat hij sync loopt met je muziek en dat je alle effecten kunt synchroniseren en aansturen via de step sequencer. Plogue Chipspeech

Vanmorgen viel mijn oog op een nieuwe plugin die diverse 'vintage' speech synths kan emuleren en daarnaast ook compleet met MIDI te besturen is om te laten zingen e.d.. Ik heb hem zelf nog niet kunnen proberen, maar als sucker voor dit soort geluiden vind ik het zeker interessant. Er lijkt geen demoversie beschikbaar te zijn, maar schijnbaar draait de plugin tot autorisatie wel in een soort demomode dus heb de ontwikkelaar om een link gevraagd. Gister is de nieuwste release van Mistery Islands Music de deur uit gegaan http://www.mysteryislands-music.com/?product=access-virushc-audiounit-vsti-editor-librarian-plug-in Ik had veel van mijn hoop gevestigd op deze plugin voor mijn Virus C omdat het qua features een van de beste is (op VC van Access zelf na) die op de markt is nu. Helaas zijn er nog een aantal modules in ontwikkeling en er zijn bugs. Ondanks dat deze al zo lang in ontwikkeling is, kan ik niet anders concluderen dat deze nu snel afgeraffeld de deur uit gegaan is om maar van een release te kunnen spreken. En dan mogen betalende gebruikers de Beta testers zijn. Ook de interface heeft enige versions gekend. In de eerste afbeeldingen die de ontwikkelaar liet zien...
