Mooi ding, maar....krijgt alles nu USB in plaats van MIDI??? Daar zijn we dan met onze (straks) vintagegear mooi klaar mee..
Van een forum-discussie uit www.loopersdelight.com kreeg ik deze informatie:
For those of you looking at looping units for your live performances
and can't afford a professional unit like the
Electrix Repeater or the Echoplex Digital Pro Plus take a look at the
new Digitech JamMan. Apparently Digitech bought Lexicon so they've
revived the JamMan name into a two pedal foot powered looper. It's
similar to the Boss RC-20(XL) but in looking at these features it
kills the Boss unit.
You can hold up to 6.5 hours audio looping storage on a 2gig Compact
Flash card. So esentially this unit is upgradeable to whatever storage
capacity you want to load it up with. If you can't afford the bigger
cards you could easily carry around multiple smaller memory cards.
512MB cards (which run about $30 - $40) would store over an hour and a
half worth of loops! The RC20XL has a maximum of only 16 minutes and
can never be upgraded. The JamMan has an XLR input for the mic, the
RC20XL doesn't. The JamMan has a USB connection for your PC, the
RC20XL doesn't. And if you don't want to plug the pedal up to your PC
just pull the memory card out, stick it in a compact flash reader and
dump wav file loops directly from your PC to the memory card. That's
practically the same idea behind the Electrix Repeater. The JamMan has
stereo output (can connect headphones), the RC20XL doesn't recommend
it (mono only). The JamMan comes with an a/c adapter power supply. The
RC20XL, like most Boss pedals, stiffs you for an extra $20 or so for
an adapter.
All that and this unit is the same price as the RC-20XL. You can only
pre-order one at this time but I know what's #1 on my Christmas list!

Subject: [LoopMusic] Recommendation for a loop unit
As you probably just read in the last message, I use a Boss RC20 loop pedal
for
- live performance,
- "idea catching" in the studio, and
- trying out combinations of instruments in the studio without bringing up
Sonar.
However, there are some drawbacks to the RC20 that I would like to solve:
- Rather poor sound quality. In live gigs, when I go from live to loop, the
lower quality is clearly noticable.
- Mono operation. My flutes are dual-miked, FX setup (PCM81) produces great
stereo sound, and the Synth the keyboard guy uses is beautiful in stereo.
The RC-20 mono just doesn't cut it.
- Unbalanced ins/outs. ("Hmmmmmmm")
I'm looking at the array of available loopers for live situations, and I'm
befuddled. Can't find a "matrix of features" anywhere.
So, if anyone could possibly recommend a unit or setup that fits this bill:
- Rack-mounted with outboard pedals is AOK.
- Stereo balanced ins and outs
- Excellent sound - uncompressed 44.1/16 would be great
- Loop time at least a minute (RC20 is up to 5 minutes)
- Reasonably easy to use (RC20 is dead simple, but I am willing to give up
here and accept more complexity - I'm a smart guy, right?)
Thanks for any input anyone can offer, even if it only "go look at model
XXX"!
