Sony DTC ZE700 ... Tape Recorder features Super Bit Mapping (SBM) encoding system that uses Sony's noise-shaping technology to achieve 20-bit resolution on the 16-bit linear DAT format. Advanced pulse D/A converter eliminates zero-cross distortion, considered by researchers to be the most audible distortion in CD players. All of it results in remarkably smooth, open sound - even during delicate quiet passages.
SCORE digital filter uses "dither" technology to make music cleaner and better defined. The filter uses 8x oversampling, 45-bit internal processing and 20-bit outputs. The unit possesses 44.1 kHz analog recording capability so you can record for CD distribution. It records at three sampling rates (32, 44.1, 48 kHz) and features playback sampling-rate auto sensing and auto switching. Mid-Ship drive reduces chassis flexing and radiated noise. Sony 3 Motor transport is very smooth and responsive and resists vibration and resonance. The recorder features quick loading mechanism and optical and coaxial digital inputs for digital-to-digital connection to preamps, CD players and other digital recorders. 200/400 times high-speed search helps you find the music you're looking for. Automatic ID subcodes mark the beginning of selections as you record. Blank Search automatically finds the end of the recorded portion of the tape. Two repeat modes replays one track or the complete tape. 2-way time display shows absolute or remaining time. 23 segment peak level meters to help set record levels. Digital peak margin display is included for extremely precise record level settings. Message function indicates beginning of tape, end of tape and other conditions on the front panel display.
