OK...this is a real thing, as opposed to the apocryphal MC-404 Ambient
Composer which was a running gag on AH for a while some time back. The 929
is a latin sound-set 909 box, in the same way that the 727 is the latin-set
707. These things really _are_ rare, as opposed to the TB-303 which is more
overhyped than actually rare. Best estimates are there were only a couple
hundred made, probably around the end of the production run for the TR-909.
Supposedly, most of them were marketed in the Caribbean and S. American
regions. Very rarely, one turns up for sale...although I myself haven't
seen one of these things in nearly a decade. Now, whether or not this is an
actual _useful_ box is open to debate; some people, for example, find the
TR-727 totally useless, while others like the latin sounds as accents or
something different from the usual hats and such on the 707/808/909. I'd
say don't keep your eyes open looking for one, though...of all the Rolands,
even among the xoxboxes, _this_ is the rarest of them, with the possible
exception of the full MC-8 systems.
