The Arp Quadra is a very cool and unique looking synth. The synth has four sections which consist of Bass, Strings, Poly, and Lead. The synth itself isn't much to get excited about. However, the built in phasor is!!! That's what makes this thing worth having. The phasor is like no other I've ever heard. It's basically the same phasor that the infamous Mu-Tron Bi-Phase guitar phasor is made of during the same time period. If you haven't heard it, do yourself a favor and check it out. The Arp Quadra wouldn't be worth much if it weren't for it's phasor. If you look below, you'll see the ext. audio input into the onboard mixer. This allows you to process outside signals in the synth. This is something I need to explore more. I think I'll be inputting some guitar into this thing in the very near future. It has no midi, just the CV Gate inputs and outputs which are the same as the old Oberheim units, and much smaller than the Moog CV Gate's. It came with a large pedal which can control the Lead VCF, the actual phasor characteristics, or volume. When buying one of these, make sure the mylar covering over the presets isn't worn or warped. This will cause the unit to malfunction and there are no replacements available. Keep it out of the sun and and keep it in room temps with average humidity levels if possible. That should keep it out of trouble.
