Today I felt brave and opened up my new Yamaha E1010 analog delay. The
purpose was to hopefully find a way to make an input for cv (to delay time).
First I found a trimpot marked "delay" and I found that you can easily make
the delay time VERY long (more than 2 seconds I think). With very low
bandwidth of course, but still... I went for a max time about 1 second -
more fun than the original 300ms.
Anyway I decided to go for the modification, and I was surprised how easy it
was. Here is a brief explanation of how to get cv to control delay time on
your E1010 (probably E1005 as well). The mod I did converts the foot switch
input on the front to a cv input. I would never use the footswitch (switches
delay on and off) anyway. With nothing plugged in the input everything is
normal, but if you plug in a cv, then the internal modulation is bypassed,
and you have external delay control.

(I am writing from memory, not looking into the unit, so not everything is
precise).
Unscrew all screws on top and bottom and remove top and bottom plates. On
the board where the pots are mounted there are some multi connections at the
edge. Find the one in the middle where one of the pins are marked "mod".
Disconnect the whole plug. Now use a small screwdriver to get the "mod" pin
out of the big plug, and then put the big plug back into place. Find the
multi connection at the end of the board that has the connections for the
foot sw. input and the output on the front. Do the same as above, but now
remove the pedal pin. Turn the unit upside down. Find the spot in the middle
of the board where the "mod" cable is connected to the other side. Solder a
new piece of cable here. The other end is soldered to a pin on the foot sw.
jack. (I will get back to wich it is). Turn unit upside up. Find the
modulation depth pot and solder a cable to the middle of the three solder
points. The other end goes to another pin on the foor sw. jack. You should
use a multimeter or something to find out wich pins to use. For me it was
the two unused pins towards the middle of the unit. You should be able to
find two pins that are connected when nothing is inserted. With a jack
inserted, the connection should be broken, and the tip of the jack is
connected to the "mod" point in the middle of the board. Now close the thing
and slap a "CV INPUT" sticker over the foot sw. marking on the front and you
are all done.
My explanation might not be the best, but I promise you that it really is
simple.

The other end goes to another pin on the foot sw. jack.
