Wikipedia:
In its most general sense, a panorama is any wide view of a physical space. It has also come to refer to a wide-angle representation of such a view — whether in painting, drawing, photography, film/video, or a three-dimensional model. Further, the motion-picture term, pan or panning, is derived from "panorama".
En:
panning (audio), panning is the spread of a monaural signal in a stereo or multi-channel sound field.
Wavearts software [
http://wavearts.com/Panorama5.html] beschrijft 3-D panning als volgt: Panorama is a specialized tool for creating stunningly realistic 3-D audio scenes using regular stereo sound. The DSP technology in Panorama reproduces psychoacoustic sound localization and distance cues, allowing you to pan sounds in three dimensions: not just left and right, but up, down, front, back, near, and far.
One of the coolest, most unique pedals ever made. Tremolo, panning, and opto-coupler phasing. You can combine the three for some wild psychedelia. Combining the phaser and tremolo are something I have never seen before. GOOD!. Also you can use this unit to split your signal and run in stereo, not to mention panning back and forth. Imagine, a high speed tremolo going back and forth between two rigs. Talk about mind blowing.
- Roland's approach to achieving 3D over loudspeakers is to use phase, delay and filtering to process a mono sound into a binaural format, then generate additional out-of-phase signals to cancel out the crosstalk that normally occurs. By manipulating the relative left/right phase, filtering and levels in real time, the sound source can be made to appear to move, and in good listening conditions, it is possible to create the effect of a sound moving around the listener. Vertical sound movement is also possible by modelling the tonal changes that occur when a sound is moved further away from an acoustically reflective floor.
- The RSS10 offers rather more control over position than the original RSS system, as room reflections and reverb can now be modelled. Changes in early reflections provide clues as to sound movement, and this should, in theory, make the whole effect more believable.
What makes this unit special is the variety of panning options including the one and only figure eight panning setting creating musical 3D effect. Audio circles itself in stereo left to right while providing depth forward & back in the mix. Incredible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Decay volgens Wikipedia:
The sound decay rate is the time rate at which sound pressure level decreases in a room at a stated frequency.
