Zonder PCI Card
High Definition Audio Interface - Tons of I/O and PCIe Card!MOTU's HD192 Core PCI-e sets new standards for features and value as a two rack-space 12-channel high definition audio interface for Mac and Windows. The HD192 provides high-quality audio recording and playback on 12 balanced XLR analog inputs and outputs at any standard sample rate up to 192kHz, with expansion up to 48 channels of 192kHz! And the HD192 is full of advanced features, like AES/EBU I/O with sample rate conversion both in and out. Ideal for surround applications, the HD192 can support two simultaneous 5.1 mixes.
MOTU HD192 Core PCI-e at a Glance:
Twelve channels of balanced, 24-bit/192kHz analog I/O on XLR
Higher bandwidth PCIe-424 card
Control CueMix from your iPad
High-definition converters
Front panel metering and power switch
12 XLR Inputs and Outputs
All 12 XLR inputs and outputs on the HD192 rear panel support operation at 44.1, 48, 88.2, 96, 176.4 and 192kHz. Latest-generation converters and state-of-the art design provide exceptional audio quality. The measured dynamic range for the 12 analog inputs is just over 120dB. AES/EBU digital I/O is also provided at samples rates up to 96kHz with independent real-time sample rate conversion on the digital input and output. A separate "AES word in" BNC connector allows users to clock the AES/EBU section independently from the rest of the system. System word clock input/output is also provided on BNC connectors.
PCIe-424 Card
The HD192 core system includes the PCIe-424, the same enhanced PCIe card used by MOTU's 2408mk3 and 24I/O. The PCIe card allows you to take advantage of the next-generation functionality of PCIe architecture; the bus technology that will dominate the personal computer for the coming decade. Unlike older parallel technologies, PCI Express guarantees each device dedicated bandwidth to and from the system controller. PCI Express cards and slots are defined by their bandwidth, or number of data lanes - typically one lane, four lanes, eight lanes, or 16 lanes. At 250 MBps per lane, a four-lane slot can transfer data at up to 1 GBps and an eight-lane slot, up to 2 GBps - almost twice as fast as a 133MHz PCI-X slot at a maximum throughput of just over 1 GBps. The new PCIe-424 card can be installed in any PCI Express slot (regardless of its number of lanes). PCI Express delivers more than enough bus bandwidth for the 424 card, while ensuring that other PCI devices won't "steal" bus cycles from the 424 card. PCIe means more bandwidth and a vastly improved scheme for high-speed data transfers - just what you need for high-quality audio.
The PCIe-424 card adds a fourth Audio Wire port that allows users to connect up to four MOTU audio interfaces to the computer. At 12 channels each, a fully expanded HD192 system provides 48 simultaneously active input and output connections at sample rates up to 192kHz (or as many channels as the host computer supports at the 4x sample rates). HD192 users can connect any MOTU PCI audio interface to their PCIe-424 card.
Control CueMix with your iPad
MOTU's CueMix FX software, the mixing software that drives the powerful routing of the HD192 Core, can be controlled from your iPad. MOTU created CueMix templates for the TouchOSC controller app, giving you complete control over your HD192 Core's mixing and effects processing over a Wi-Fi network. This means that when you're recording in your studio, you don't need to keep going back to your computer to adjust gain levels, change monitoring effects, or virtually anything else you rely on CueMix for.
MOTU HD192 Converters
The most important link in the digital recording chain is the A/D converter. It is the critical component that converts your analog input signal into digital information. The higher the quality of the A/D converter, the better your recordings will sound.
The 192-kHz converters in the HD192 are the very same used in more expensive HD systems. With 120dB A-weighted dynamic range and a THD+N of 0.0005%, the HD192 is simply the best sounding front end you can buy for your digital audio workstation.
Front Panel Metering
The HD192's front panel provides dedicated 19-segment level meters for all 12 inputs and outputs. Two over meters are included, a temporary over meter and an over/hold meter that is resettable via software. Comprehensive clock status LEDs are also included so you can see at a glance the current sampling rate and clock source.
Useful in the unlikely event you wish to turn off your HD192, a front panel power switch is provided. An interesting fact about MOTU Audio interfaces is that they are hot swappable. This means you can power off, plug-in, add and remove interfaces without turning your computer off or restarting.
MOTU HD192 Core PCI-e Features:
Twelve channels of +4, balanced, 192-kHz 24-bit analog inputs and outputs using XLR jacks.
AES/EBU digital I/O
19-segment LED meters on every input and output
16, 20, and 24-bit recording at 44.1, 48, 88.2, 96, 176.4 or 192kHz
