Kabels Silent Way <-> Ultralite MK3

Het heeft even geduurd, maar ik kan eindelijk Silent Way gebruiken in Cubase mét een zichtbare GUI

Gisteren even vlug getest en het werkte helemaal prima. Daarna pas las ik in de handleiding dat speciale kabels aangeraden worden:

In most cases special cables are recommended when using a DC coupled audio interface as
a source of CVs. Most audio interfaces have balanced outputs (on TRS ('stereo') jacks or
XLRs), while synth CV inputs are unbalanced (usually on TS ('mono') jacks or minijacks).
If you use a regular stereo or mono jack lead, you'll be shorting out one of the balanced
output signals (usually the R (ring) to the S (shield)). While this probably wouldn't be a
problem for normal audio use, when outputting the sustained voltages that are useful as
CVs you risk damaging the interface hardware.
The usual recommendation is to make up special cables with a TRS jack at one end and a
TS jack at the other, connecting T->T (tip to tip) and S->S (shield to shield) while leaving
the R (ring) floating i.e. unconnected.
An alternative is to wire a TRS jack to two TS jacks, connecting one T->T/S->S and the
other R->T/S->S. This then gives you two copies of the output CV, one of them inverted,
which is particularly useful from LFOs. Note that this cable configuration is identical to
that of a regular "Y" audio insert lead.

Ik heb het gebruikt met 1/8"-patchkabeltjes met daarop een (TRS)plug van 1/8 naar 1/4". Vooralsnog in ieder geval geen rook uit de MOTU zien komen Het is een Ultralite mk3. Iemand anders ervaring met Silentway in combinatie met deze interface? Toch maar even speciale kabels fixen dan, of valt het allemaal wel mee? Ik heb geen uren gezocht, maar op de site van MOTU wordt er zo te zien ook niet echt voor gewaarschuwd.

Je moet er op letten dat je geen unbalanced kabels gebruikt. Ander zou je rare lusjes kunnen maken via de tip en de sleeve van je jack.

Juist, ja. Maar ik heb dat dus niet had gedaan, vooralsnog zonder de audio-interface gesloopt te hebben. In het boekje van de je mixer staat ook altijd dat je je gain niet in het rood mag draaien, maar als ik dit forum af en toe lees dan houdt ook niet iedereen zich hier altijd aan De vraag was dus meer hoe groot de kans is dat er daadwerkelijk iets mis zou gaan in de praktijk. Intussen heb ik toch maar besloten om wat speciale kabeltjes te maken om het zekere voor het onzekere te nemen.

Het kan mis gaan als je de jack achter uit je geluidskaart trekt terwijl een SW plug actief stroom aan het uitsturen is en er een gevoelige module op aangesloten staat.......dat is wat ik ervan begreep.
