EMS Synthi A en VCS3 (Putney)

Ik heb een tijdje geleden gemailed met Robin Wood over de koop van een nieuwe synthi, dit was zijn antwoord :

Dear Erwin,

We are expecting to start a final production run of new Synthis (Synthi A and
VCS3) in early 2009. We have none in stock at this time.

We only have enough Synthi A cases for 40 units, and cabinets built for
30 VCS3s (Putneys). Once the Synthi A cases are all used-up we will have to
consider redesigning the suitcase Synthi. The waiting list for both Synthi A and
VCS3 is already longer than this. However we do anticipate that many of the
long-term waiters will have dropped out when we re-establish contact with them
shortly. This creates an element of uncertainty about the availablility of the
last Synthi As but VCS3s should remain available as the hardwood cabinets can
still be produced. Note that at present there are no keyboards available (KS or
DK2) although we expect to make the mechanical keyboard DK2 available again once
we are up and running.

At the moment we are quoting a notional lead-time of 18 months for Synthi As and
VCS3s, but once we start delivering completed units we should be able to be a
bit more specific. Prices are 3000.00 GBP for the Synthi A and 3200.00 for the
VCS3 (excluding VAT - if you live in the EEC).

If you wanted to take your chances and join the waiting list we just need a
deposit in the form of a personal cheque (not a bank draft) made out to EMS for
the equivalent of 150.00 UK pounds (or 300 USD), which we will not attempt to
bank or cash. At any time you can request the return of this cheque, for example
if you managed to find a used Synthi on ebay. If you want to keep track of
progress at our end you are welcome to email for an update.

The Synthis we are making are to the original design using the original
components.

heb je het gedaan?

ik begreep van robin wood dat de lijst al ruim overtekend was (is ook alweer een tijdje terug) maar dat hij rekende op terugkrabbelaars en dat je dan alsnog op de te leveren lijst zou kunnen komen.

ik vond 18 mnd te lang, niet te overzien, dus ik heb het maar niet gedaan.
 
Nope, niet gedaan, heb er toch vanaf gezien omdat ik de kans erg klein acht en niet ineens met een een nieuwe Synthi geconfronteerd wil worden als ik het geld niet klaar heb liggen..
 
nou, ik denk dat robin wood een erg betrouwbaar iemand is, ik heb prima ervaringen met hem, hoewel een paar patchpinnetjes of een knop wat anders is dan een hele synth natuurlijk. toch, gelet op de timing (ik denk dat hij de laatste jaren eerst goed heeft kunnen beoordelen of dit haalbaar was, hij komt met een prijs die ver onder de 2dehands prijs ligt) en ook de lange wachttijd die hij duidelijk in het vooruitzicht stelt, denk ik dat je wel kan bouwen op robin wood. hij komt niet meteen met beloften die hij niet kan waarmaken.

dus op zich, vertrouwen zou ik er wel in hebben, maar gewoon niet het geduld.
gisteren ging er weer een vcs3 weg op ebay, voor $7999. ook aan iemand die niet kon wachten denk ik.
 
Ik heb heel goeie ervaringen met Robin Wood.
Een aangename man om mee te praten,vriendelijk en betrouwbaar.

Op m'n emails altijd binnen de 2 dagen antwoord.

Heeft m'n VCS-3 van kop tot teen geserviced.
Gemod en alle toebehoren gechecked op fouten.

dan durf ik hem al helemaal niet meer aan te raken !
klinkt wel lekker en wat een karaktersynth
