Buchla & Tiptop Eurorack 200 series​

Buchla en Tiptop Audio kondigen een samenwerking aan om de Buchla 200-serie in eurorackformaat op de markt te brengen. Deze kostbare en relatief zeldzame apparaten, die bijna een halve eeuw geleden werden ontworpen, zullen opnieuw beschikbaar zijn, en dit keer voor een breed publiek.


Op de website staan de volgende modules aangekondigd:

• 292t – Quad Lopass Gate – available Spring 2022
• 257t – Dual Voltage Processor – available Spring 2022

• 245t – Sequential Voltage Source – available Winter/Spring 2022

We will try to make as many of the modules as is feasible. A number of them were only made as prototypes and some of those never finished or fully functional. What will not be made: 100 series, Music Easel, 300 series including the 221 keyboard for programming the 300 computer.

De 208 (Easel) zal dus wel niet gebeuren, maar de 259 zou nog best kunnen komen.

Dit is natuurlijk 100% analoog, meer als vintage 200 serie. Dus zonder de recall opties die de digitale(re) 200e serie heeft. Nog steeds een enorm prijsverschil, maar het is niet 1 op 1 een groot Buchla systeem.

Uiteindelijk kan ik als huis tuin en keuken hobbyist geen Buchla systeem verantwoorden. Wellicht nog net een Easel maar dan houdt het wel op. Puur voor de lol is dit wel een leuke ontwikkeling, en een case of kleine case met wat van deze Tta/Buchla erin is wel haalbaar en daarvoor hoef ik niet erg lang te sparen. En leuk dat ze over tijd worden gereleased , dan koop ik ze gewoon wanneer ze uit komen. En het ziet er ook nog eens mooi uit zo'n case met die kleurstellingen.

Buchla werkt toch met hele andere voltages? Zijn deze modules dan eurorack compatible voor de cv pitch, modulatie en gate inputs?
Met andere woorden kan ik deze modules integreren in mijn huidige eurorack systeem?

Dit zijn de Eurorack varianten, dus alles is gewoon 1v/oct. Buchla gebruikt idd 1.2v/oct.

Ik heb ze zelf nog niet kunnen testen. Een forumlid wel en zijn eerste indruk is dat het geluid prima is maar dat je aan de modules wel merkt dat het low-budget is: frontpaten heel dun, knoppen etc ook niet top. Als je het met bijvoorbeeld Verbos vergelijkt dan is er een groot verschil. Maar niet qua geluid, dat is prima.

Model 292t Quad Lopass Gate has moved to production status and we hope to get it released in March. To our EU/UK users, as you may already know, products with Vactrols, an electronic part used in the 292, are no longer allowed in the EU/UK markets and so our dealers in those regions will not be able to carry the 292t with Vactrols. This unfortunately hurts the distribution of many classic audio products like compressors, phasers etc and applies to the low pass gates too. We tried hard to find a solution, but it just didn’t work out. However, we are optimistic about a modified version tailored for the EU/UK market which is currently in development and are looking forward to releasing when it is ready later this year.

Ik weet details niet, behalve dat langzaam aan inderdaad allerlei exemptions verlopen. Ook kun je niet fatsoenlijk high-volume produceren met gemengd loodvrij en niet loodvrij. Ik hoorde zelfs dat import van gebruikte equipment er ook onder valt (dus oude Roland uit Japan laten komen… of laten servicen in Zwitserland). Of je in de praktijk een probleem zult hebben bij de grens valt natuurlijk te bezien, zolang het om kleine aantallen gaat.

Toch wel interessant dus nog wat over nagevraagd.

De importeur is formeel verantwoordelijk als de fabrikant geen Europees rechtspersoon is. Dat geldt ook t.a.v. de veiligheid bij bv. AliExpress-items maar dat weten al die klanten die eigenlijk zelf importeren meestal niet.

TipTop Audio zit tegenwoordig in Thailand. Dus dan zijn Thomann, Bax etc verantwoordelijk voor de CE-verklaring en die willen dat waarschijnlijk niet.

Hier kun je opzoeken wat er officieel gevonden en tegengehouden is bij import:

Je kunt zoeken op datum en "country of origin". Er lijkt nog niets gerapporteerd op “environmental” “United stated” sinds jan 2016. Dus een 292t bij Perfect Circuit moet waarschijnlijk wel lukken.

Toe maar! En wat betekent dat? Een typfout?
