Hoi,
2. To disable omni, one need not do any crazy midi loopbacks or loopthroughs or even hoolahooks. Simply send midi cc 127 value 127 on any channel to the JX-3P, and viola - omni is turned off. I sent this information to my rep at Sweetwater since they have a JX-3P "omni off" how-to page with the physical midi cable loop, but sadly, they haven't updated the page. I thought it'd benefit them for the sake of selling more midi controllers too! lol. ...oh well, maybe it will benefit some folks here.
All EPROM-Version: Some very early versions of the operating system of the JX3P do not work as explained in the following. In this case you have to

All EPROM-Version: Some very early versions of the operating system of the JX3P do not work as explained in the following. In this case you have to
- switch off the JX3P
- set the MIDI/Programmer-switch on the rearside to the MIDI-Position
- connect the MIDI-Input with the MIDI-Output
- press and hold six keys of the keyboard
- switch on the JX3P and release the six keys after two seconds
of
- The JX3P is a very early MIDI device and powers up in OMNI ON. that way it plays anything sent on any channel. Is that the problem you are seeing?
On the earliest versions to turn off Omni Mode on the JX-3P, use the following procedure:
1) Turn the power off.
2) Connect a MIDI cable from the JX-3P MIDI OUT jack to the MIDI IN jack.
3) Turn the power on.
4) Press any note on the keyboard. The JX-3P will now receive on MIDI channel
1 only.
I also found this workaround:
To set a JX3P to Omni-Off just send a Poly-On (controller 127, data >= 1) message.
Try both and see if either works for you.
Vooral logic.
