In deze draad werd ik gevraagd om iets te zeggen over wavefolding.
Wavefolding valt onder het kopje "Distortion & Waveshaping".
Interessant is dat deze vorm van klankverandering gebeurt d.m.v. complexe non lineariteiten.

Eigenlijk een heel spannend gegeven omdat je aan een bestaande golfvorm peutert zonder het te filteren of additive synthese toe te passen.
De verandering vind plaats in de in- en output karakteristiek. De golfvorm wordt a.h.w. verbogen.

Wat staat hiervoor in Kyma:
InputOutputCharacteristic Each value of the input signal is mapped to a different value in the output signal. Specify the desired InValues and their corresponding OutValues. Values that lie between the ones you specify are either the same as the previous value (Smoothing = 0), linearly interpolated between the previous and next value (Smoothing = 0.5), or interpolated along a spline curve (Smoothing = 1). For nonzero values of Smoothing, the StartSlope and EndSlope give you the direction of the curve before the first value and after the last value that you have specified. Applications for this module include: waveshaping, restricting the output values of a Noise generator, or generating a variable waveform (by setting Input to a FullRamp Oscillator or looped Sample on a FullRamp as the phase or the index for looking up a value in the output function). Input This is the source of input values that will be remapped by the InputOutputCharacteristic to a different set of output values. InValues -1 !yLower !yUpper 1 OutValues For each number in the InValues array, this is the corresponding output value. Er wodt dus aan de Y - waarden gepeuterd waardoor de verschoven energie een andere golfvorm maakt.
