Yamaha DX7 modulatie probleem

Ik heb sinds kort een yamaha dx7 aangeschaft, alles doet het perfecrt maar de modulation wheel werkt niet.

Is dit probleem te verhelpen door in de menu iets te wijzigen?

Kijk eerst even of het via MIDI wel werkt.

Invloed van de modwheel hangt van de patch af maar door 'm extern aan te sturen weet je of je modwheel kapot is.

Ik heb mijn MIDI keyboard erop aangesloten en ik kreeg geen response bij het draaien van de modulation.

De pitchwheel werkte wel gewoon, betekent dit dat de modwheel stuk is?

Heb je het modulatiewiel wel goed ingesteld zodat die daadwerkelijk iets aanstuurt?

Ff bij Modulation Wheel instellingen kijken, range staat waarschijnlijk op 0 ofzo
Eerst de DX7 in function mode zetten en dan knop 17 en 18 ofzoiets op 99 zetten (of in hoeverre je de modulatie diepte wil doen)

Een DX7 onthoud altijd globaal de function instellingen (ook mono /portamento etc.) niet per patch dus dat is het waarschijnlijk.

Het kan ook zijn dat onder het function menu dat Smackos vernoemd, alles correct staat. Maar als de patches die je toevallig uitprobeert geen modulatietoekenningen hebben, dan zal je inderdaad geen respons krijgen.

Om bv pitch modulation in de patch te hebben ga je in EDIT mode en zoek je naar Modulation Sensitivity (MOD. Sensitivity) en dan PMD en zet deze dan op de hoogste waarde (7). Save deze patch weg en als je dan alles in het function menu goed hebt staan, zou je pitch mod moeten kunnen horen.

Zelfde kan je ook doen met AMD (amplitude mod sens) en dit dan per operator.

Ja ... een DX kan een mooi beest zijn, maar in het begin moeilijk te temmen .

Je kan ook de DX in test mode zetten. Hier kun je dan de werking van een aantal zaken checken, waaronder het modulation wheel. Hoe je in deze mode komt weet ik niet uit mijn hoofd, maar is waarschijnlijk snel op het net te vinden.

Zorg wel dat je een backup van je sounds hebt. Als je ram test doet zijn deze foetsie

How to access the DX7s internal diagnostics
The Yamaha DX7s internal diagnostics can be accessed as follows:

Switch the DX7s on.
Press the 'EDIT' button, '16' button and '32' button simultaneously. The easiest way to do this is to press the 'EDIT' button with one finger of your left hand and keep it pressed; then press the '32' button with one finger of your right hand and keep it pressed too; finally press the '16' button with a second finger of your right hand, then release all buttons.

BATTERY 2.9v OK

The resulting display shows the diagnostic test version, current internal battery voltage and status. To exit the diagnostics and return the DX7s to 'normal' mode, press the 'VOICE' button.

Running the DX7s internal diagnostics

BEWARE: Some of the diagnostic tests overwrite internal memory, resulting in the loss of custom data. Make sure you back up anything you don't want to lose before running the diagnostics.

You can cycle through each diagnostic test by pressing the '+1/ON' ('YES') button. At the end of each set of diagnostic tests, the test version display will appear.

Whenever the test version display is shown, the diagnostics can be cancelled and the DX7s returned to 'normal' mode by pressing the 'VOICE' button.
