Ter gelegenheid van het 100-jarig jubileum van de oprichting van de Eerste Armeense Republiek, vindt in Yerevan de “International Contemporary Art Exhibition: Armenia 2018. Soundlines of Contemporary Art” plaats. Meer dan vijftig internationale kunstenaars exposeren op zeven verschillende locaties in de stad.

De Nederlandse componist-klankkunstenaar Roland Kuit is voor deze gelegenheid uitgenodigd om in het Khachaturian Museum (zie foto) te exposeren. Hiernaast zal hij leerlingen van het TUMO Center for Art and Technology begeleiden in het creëren van een groepsexpositie.

Gedurende het ICAE2018 in Yerevan, worden er in een aantal vooraanstaande kunst instituten verscheidene workshops gegeven. Zo ook in het Tumo Center for Creative Technologies.

Roland Kuit doet op woensdag 24 oktober in Electronic Frequencies verslag van deze creative hub in het Tumo Center for Creative Technologies in Yerevan. Op dit instituut worden de jonge studenten nieuwe kunstvormen aangereikt d.m.v. teaching labs.

The Yerevan Metro Installation, a phenomenological approach

Between 10th and 21th September ICAE2018 sonic artist Roland Kuit and Karin Schomaker held a workshop with the students at the TUMO Center for Art and Technology. How to create a sound art installation?

The students recorded the Yerevan metro system and edited these sounds with computers. F.i. to hear the emotion of, in the environmental sounds, the data was down pitched and the fundamentals (the frequencies we hear the objects of sounds) were filtered away. The residues were the upper harmonics, now in reach of our hearing, could be molded into a new language by these young students. All resulted into this installation at the top floor of the TUMO Center Yerevan, Armenia.
